amtryke recipients people weve helpedOn August 14, 2021 at the Lubbock Monterey Chapter of AMBUCS SummerFest Fundraising Event, Jeff Smith received his own therapeutic Amtryke. Jeff was referred to us by Angie McDonald.
Jeff is a veteran and served as a Navy Seabees for 3 years. Thank you Jeff for your service and our freedom! Angie stated Jeff's goals for the Therapeutic Amtryke include the ability to improve mobility stamina, increase exercise tolerance, improve weight loss, improve diabetic control and improve blood pressure. Bobby Sanders and Richard Hamilton assisted Jeff in getting to know the operations of the Therapeutic Amtryke. Jeff was thrilled to receive his very own Amtryke.
In the picture above, Jeff proudly rode his Amtryke at the SummerFest Event. Some watching were tearing up while others were clapping and encouraging him on his ride.
Because of our fund raising event, donations, grant, and generous sponsors, Lubbock Monterey Ambucs is able to give Therapeutic Amtrykes at no cost to the recipient. This is important to our recipients as many have health, physical or mental conditions. Our Therapeutic Amtryke Program provides Amtrykes ranging from children as young as 18 months old to veterans and older. It is so rewarding to see a recipient receive an Amtryke. Amtrykes inspire mobility and independence. In addition, by riding a Therapeutic Amtryke, a recipient can strengthen their muscles, improve coordination, and social skills. In many instances, we hear from kids and teens that they can now ride their Amtryke with family and friends.
