meet our members

Pam Sweeten (on the left in the pic below) joined our Monterey AMBUCS Club in March of 2019, after having just moved to Lubbock in January of 2019, from Turlock, CA. Wow! Talk about getting involved in her new Community quickly.

She came to one of our club’s regular Monday lunches at the invitation of Kadee Harcrow (right below), after the two met at a class that Kadee was teaching.

Pam, apparently not one to sit on the sidelines and watch others do the work, jumped right into the activities of our Club, volunteering to do anything and everything to help with our two major fund raisers; helping to plan several of our quarterly Club socials; and is now, after less than a year and half in the Club, serving on our Board of Directors.

She says, “I have always been involved in philanthropy, and even though I had never heard of AMBUCS before arriving in Lubbock, the mission is dear to my heart, as my daughter used these services when she was still with us.”

Pam’s daughter, Heather, was born September 2, 1993 and began having seizures on September 3rd, and the family spent many months, weeks and days at Valley Children’s Hospital in Fresno, CA., where Pam says they “had the opportunity to work with several physical and occupational therapy personal who assisted us in the journey until she passed on April 4, 1996.”

Knowing that story, it’s easy to see why Pam brings such a passion to her involvement in our Club’s mission of both helping Tech graduate Physical and Occupational Therapy students with Scholarships, and also providing our special therapeutic bikes (AmTrykes) to families who have a need to help a family member gain mobility.

Pam recently joined Flint Avenue, LLC a privately-owned marketing agency based here in Lubbock, with offices in the Gulf Coast and Offshore. She says that Flint Avenue operates as a full-service outsource partner for global content development, design and delivery, and Pam serves as the Account Executive for All Ag, All Day.

When asked for an interesting fact about herself, Pam said, “I enjoy walking the halls of Washington, D.C., Sacramento, and Austin advocating for Agriculture.

When asked about where the passion for Ag comes from, she points to her son, Martin, who took up some FFA activities in school, and Pam, evidently true to her character, became fully involved in his activities.

Martin came to TEXAS in 2007, to be on the Clarendon College livestock Judging team. He then transferred to Texas Tech and was on the 2009-10 Livestock Judging team, where he meet his wife, Kelsey. She was on the 2009 Meats Team at Texas Tech. They now live in New Braunfels with 2 (soon-to-be 3) little ones that Pam says, “bring me so much joy.”

Pam says her favorite past time is spending time with friends, and that her goal is for “America to have a safe reliable domestic food supply.” And, seeing how Pam has so quickly become such an active and passionate member of our club, I have to believe that she will do everything she can to make that goal a reality.

We are so grateful to have Pam Sweeten as a Member of our Monterey AMBUCS Team, and, whether you’re a long-time Lubbock resident OR a newcomer like Pam was, if you, too, would like to learn more about our mission and see about joining our Team, just JOIN US at one of our regular Monday Lunches at the McKenzie/Merkett Alumni Center on the Tech Campus.

I am a member to the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and also a member of the Texas Tech Club, best place to see a West Texas Sunset!
