Couples Enjoy Valentines Dinner

updates general news

On Tuesday, February 14, close to 50 of our club members and spouses gathered for our Annual Valentines Dinner, hosted by the Social Committee at the new Reagor/Dykes downtown Lubbock Showroom. There was plenty of relaxed time to mix and mingle, so that folks could meet and greet everyone, before settling down for dinner.

And, if you are into vintage cars, you were in hog heaven. It was very patriotic – with a red convertible Chevelle SS, seen here behind the Clarks and the Davises.

There was also a sleek white Masserati, which served as the backdrop to club President Anthony Brocato and Social Chairman Rollo Gurss’s welcoming remarks.

And to complete the patriotic theme there was the blue Chevelle convertible – which more than one person mentioned driving out the door!

As always, it was fun once again to join with our spouses and spend some time enjoying good food and catching up on what our families have been doing since our last Social – the Annual Christmas Party.

The Social Committee did a tremendous job on the table decorations. It was all very festive with one large vase of roses, 3 single rose vases, and 4 large boxes with chocolate hearts on each table – along with the menus to select one of three really good Italian dishes which were served from the Reagor/Dykes Italian Garden Restaurant next door to the Showroom.

After dinner, Richard Hamilton conducted a 12-question Valentine quiz, and there was a 4-way tie for the winner with four couples each having 9 correct answers; but in a highly-sophisticated elimination, Gary and Angie McDonald walked away with the grand prize – a bottle of wine. There was also a drawing for the 6 large vases of roses, and the winners of those were Susan Will, JoBeth Brenholtz, Vicky Berrier, Kadee Harcrow, Kim Davis, and Gary McDonald.

It was a fun evening, and everyone wrapped up the time by collecting their rose vase and special chocolate, and getting more pictures by the cars – like Bill and Karen Wrench with the slick Mustang below.

We want to say a special thanks to the Social Committee for planning the evening and for providing us another opportunity to share time with our spouses outside of regular club activities.  We’ll have one more Social for the year – with our Annual Installation Banquet coming up in June.
